The Aims of Extreme Ventures
Corporate Away Days
Extreme Ventures can help anyone achieve talents they didn’t know they had through our range of teambuilding and leadership activities which are integrated into our climbing and outdoor pursuit activities and to build confidence and self-assurance in an enjoyable, exhilarating and safe way.
We can modify a set of activities designed to motivate imaginative thinking, teamwork and management in an enjoyable and stimulating approach. Activities can be delivered on site, local venues, or in activity centres or appropriate facilities in Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Central London as required. Our teambuilding courses are designed for your needs, so we can organise a course specifically to achieve an objective in your organisation. We specialise in Teambuilding Days, as well as incentive breaks and away days for companies.
Instructors are fully qualified and very experienced teaching adults and young people across the spectrum, from large corporate team building programmes and child development.
Day courses can be modified to suit your needs and requirements, we can even come to you and provide our specialised team building courses at a location of your choice within London and the Southeast, we can’t bring the rocks or abseil wall to you but what we can do is bring some challenging and fun team building and problem solving activities which will encourage your teams to work together, communicate and have fun at the same time.
Courses are designed to introduce people to each other and to enhance the bonding of groups and formation of teams. Ideal for organisations that want to achieve solid results in a short time, these days have proven highly successful and are extremely affordable for any budget.
How Extreme Ventures Team Building Away Day's work
These days usually start at 10.00 a.m. to allow for travel time from most locations in the south-east. We introduce the aims and format of the day to all of the participants, and give a safety briefing with detailed instructions.
The finish time for the day is entirely flexible, as you'll see from the format below - so you can spend as much or as little time as you like, and arrange meetings, lunch and end of day transport to fit in perfectly.
Preferably you will have separated the participants into groups in advance - these should be a maximum of 12. We can also separate the participants into groups for you by using a simple format which normally ensures that regular colleagues have the chance to work with one another, however if you have a specific reason for mixing some people with others please arrange this in advance to avoid delays this in advance, but we This is a crucial aspect of the organisation of the day to ensure a successful outcome.
These groups are then allocated tasks which gain points, which will create a bit of competition and honesty through the challenges; teams will only be able to capitalise on their points by working together in a supportive manner as the task are designed to encourage teamwork, communication and often trust.
Each team has a task to complete in the time given normally about 20 minutes. The team are expected keep an honest account of their score after discussing how they how they achieved their goals, and how they gained their points before continuing on to the next task, with this the teams get through as many tasks and challenges in a day as they are able to complete.
Depending on the location some of the tasks involve outdoor adventure activities including abseiling, high ropes or climbing which is supervised by a qualified and experienced instructor other activities include basic team building tasks; crossing and area without touching the ground or dropping items into a bucket without entering the area; other tasks are designed to be more discussion and idea based like having to balance 12 nails on the head of one nail. Each team gets a mixture of tasks and it is a well tried method.
Tasks are of the following types
Activity based - the participant needs to take part in an activity to gain points for the group - such as abseiling or climbing.
Preparation and support - the team must develop a plan to accomplish a particular purpose, and carry it out. These challenges often engage the participants, for example, being given materials to cross a gap or to construct a system.
Democratising challenges that require the group to operate as team, it’s an opportunity for individuals who would normally not work well with leaders to be encouraged to work as a team.
Almost all tasks have roles for people who either have a disability or who do not wish to participate which might make them uncomfortable. The idea of the courses is not to make them a physical challenge, but to encourage teamwork and collaboration.
Teams must administer their own time, so they have a required 20 minute lunch break which can be taken at any time. It's surprising just how competitive some people can be.
At the end of the day the points are calculated. The debriefing or review of the day is done after this and you return at a time you specify.
Post- event we can organise pub or hotel meals, social events and accommodation.
